چکیده
o Scientists estimate that 80% of immune system is located in your gut. o Lining of the gut wall-the epithelium-is only one cell thick. o Big part of immune system is on the other side of the wall. o When gut wall cells are healthy-immune system works well. When cells are compromised, allowing partially digested food to leak through the intestinal wall, immune system is compromised. o An overactive immune system, and eventually, autoimmune disease can be the result. o Healthy gut is a must to have a healthy immune system. Creatinine Phosphokinase (CPK) Elevation in the Coexistence of Wilson's Disease and Autoimmune Hepatitis with Atypical Presentation: A Diagnostic Dilemma
Background: Wilson's disease (WD) is a genetic disorder with various clinical presentations due to excessive accumulation of copper in the liver and other organs. It can present as acute/chronic hepatitis, liver failure, extrahepatic and neuromuscular manifestations. Autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) is a necroinflammatory disease of the liver, which affects a lot of people particularly the children p...
متن کاملP70: Comparison of Hemp Seed Oil Effect on Expression of Cannabinoid Receptor 1 and 2 in Experimental Autoimmune Encephalomyelitis
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune disease of central nervous system with inflammatory basis. Experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) is common animal model used in experiments the most for investigating the multiple sclerosis due to many similar aspects. Hemp seed oil possess potential anti-inflammatory properties. In our research we investigated and compared the effect of hemp s...
متن کاملEvaluation of serum osteopontin level in patients with alopecia areata compared to healthy subjects
Background and Aim: Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disease of hair follicle. Osteopontin is an early T lymphocyte activator that may play a role in some immunological diseases. The aim of this study was to evaluate the serum level of osteopontin in patients with alopecia areata and compare it with the level in normal subjects. Methods: 54 patients with alopecia areata who presented to t...

Over the past 20 years major advances have been made in the diagnosis and understanding of pathogenic mechanisms relating to coeliac disease. Recently-identified genetic markers support the immunological-inflammatory nature of the disease. It is hoped that these newly-identified genes will assist further dissection of the inflammatory pathways in coeliac disease and give insight into why certai...
متن کاملCeliac Disease, Gluten-Free Diet, and Bone Mass Density
Background: Celiac disease (CD), as an autoimmune disease has initiated since ingestion of food containing gluten. Constant intolerance to gluten causes damages of the small intestinal mucosa. One reason of mal-absorption in children and infants is CD. Additionally, about 75% of newly identified patients with CD have low bone mineral density (BMD). Many factors have role in metabolic bone disea...
متن کاملPrevalence of vitamin B-12 deficiency among patients with thyroid dysfunction.
Due to the non-specificity of symptoms and possibly severe consequences of untreated vitamin B-12 deficiency, screening is important for at-risk patients to ensure the prompt delivery of treatment. In this review, studies assessing the prevalence of vitamin B-12 deficiency in thyroid dysfunction are evaluated to determine whether regular vitamin B-12 screening is necessary. A literature search ...
